Growing up "Hapa," or Half Chinese

In celebration of Women’s History Month Sheila Morris, Co-Executive Director of the Waseca County Historical Society and Museum, will discuss growing up “half and half” with a Chinese father and an American mother and the impact the Chinese Exclusion Laws had on her family. Her family’s story was dramatized in Jessica Huang’s “The Paper Dreams of Harry Chin” when the play premiered in March - April 2017 at the History Theater. This is being sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Steele County Home Economics Association and the Arts Center. A five-dollar fee will be charged at the door, with the net proceeds benefiting the Arts Center.
