Beginning Drawing

This course allows students to approach drawing fundamentals and fresh approaches to traditional observational drawing. Different mark-making tools will be explored, with an overall emphasis on discovering comfort and confidence with preferred materials. Class discussions and exercises will focus on translating what the eye sees into two-dimensional,  handcrafted images. The class offers an experience perfect for beginning artists as well as those with more experience looking for an opportunity to polish their skills. Your instructor holds a BA in Art from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Sequential Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He is an illustrator focusing on visual storytelling, emphasizing the combination of traditional and digital techniques and has provided storyboards for several televised commercials. His drawings have been featured as part of retail in-store marketing materials. He has been teaching since 2004, leading students to develop their art and design skillsets into a clear, industry-focused career path.
