Artists of all ages, even parents, are encouraged to create a work of art inspired by the month’s gallery exhibit. Bring your creation for Family Night at the OAC, it’s free and open to the public. All are welcomed to join us and a work of art is not need to enter, but encouraged. All artwork created will be on display in a family art show and reception. An art activity will be organized each night. The OAC gallery will also be open for families to see the work of practicing artists. Come join us for a night of family, fun and art!
Tuesday, February 21st @ 6:30-7:30pm
The beauty found in the shapes and colors of the human form have inspired many artists such as our exhibiting artist Sandra Dowd. Many artists work from models, photos and self-portraits reflected in a mirror. Your challenge this month is to create a portrait of an individual. This could be of you, a family member or a friend. Then bring your work to the OAC and learn the techniques used by the old masters. Experience the spontaneity of a gesture drawing! Learn how to use line, value, texture and proportions. Art doesn’t have to be perfect, just person-ish, table-ish, tree-ish and so on. It’s about learning to draw how you see the world.
The event will take place outside of the gallery this month. The gallery will be displaying several nude paintings expressing the artful beauty of the human body in a tasteful way. Parents can decide to take their family to the exhibit if they choose.
