WINTER CLASS SCHEDULE
Beginning and Intermediate Pottery-Tuesdays (for High School Students and Adults)
In this 8-week class, students will work on developing the skills needed to complete a class project of their choice. The basics of wedging clay, centering on the wheel, and forming plates, bowls, and cylindrical shapes will be covered. Students are encouraged to use the open studio time between classes to allow them to practice their skills. The use of studio equipment (potters wheel, slab roller, extruder), pottery tools, and facility rules will be covered in this class. Creativity and individualism are encouraged. Please wear comfortable washable clothes and tennis shoes for this class. Past classes have made candy dispensers, flower vases and teapots, so bring your enthusiasm and creative genius to this class and have some fun with clay! To help inspire students in this class, class time will partially overlap the experienced student class time. One 25# bag of clay, all glazes and the firing are included in the fee.

Pottery for Experienced High School Students and Adults- Tuesdays
This class is targeted at experienced pottery students. The experienced student should have already taken two or more pottery classes (or equivalent), be able to wedge, center, and throw basic shapes on the potters wheel, be able to trim and know how to glaze bisque ware ? all without instructor assistance. This allows the class instruction time to be focused on more advanced shapes, new and interesting hand building techniques, the use of slips and engobes, surface texturing, handles, resists, and many other advanced techniques. To allow the interaction of experienced students with beginning and intermediate students, the experienced student class time will partially overlap the beginning student class time. One 25# bag of clay, all glazes and the firing are included in the fee.

Wearable Glass: Fusing with Diachronic Glass (from belt buckles to earrings and anything in between)
Easy to make, these beautiful wearable and functional glass art pieces make wonderful gifts. Class will focus on creating a series of personalized fused glass items using diachronic glass as the pri mary design element. The number of items made will depend on the size of the projects chosen by a student. The basics of glass fusing will be covered along with safety and tool usage. Six kilns will be provided with two students to a kiln. Each project consists of the hardware or jewelry findings and the glass that will be used as the decoration. Projects that may be created include: money clip, key chain, book mark, tie bar/clasp, pendant, compact mirror box, barrettes, ear rings, refrigerator magnets, wine stoppers and belt buckle. Let your imagination run wild. Bring a lunch if you want to watch an optional video during the break or lunch on your own. Glass supplies for each glass art piece costs an average $6 (dependent on size) and will be purchased from the instructor at class. A $20 kiln usage and equipment fee is built into the cost of your workshop. Your instructor has been working with kiln-formed glass for more than ten years. He has explored many applications of kiln-formed glass including its use in contemporary furniture, sculptures, wall hangings, accent tiles and home décor. He owns his own design business and serves designers, wholesale distributors and architectural glass fabricators.

Handmade Decorative Tiles
For centuries, ceramic tiles have been both a decorative and a practical feature of large lavish cathedrals and very practical everyday kitchens and baths. Tiles are both utilitarian and beautiful. And you can make you own original in this class. Students will follow a step-by-step process to create an original relief tile and then make a plaster press mold in order to recreate the tile numerous times. Original designs can be abstract or representational or geometric. Feel free to bring your own ideas to class! The molded tiles will then be bisque fired and in the second class, decorated with under glazes and/or glazes and fired a second time. Students will decide the date of the second class which will be approximately 2 weeks after the first class and will last for approximately one hour.

Watercolor, Painting and Sketching Workshop with Steve DeLaitsch
As in all of Steve's classes painting and personal style of the students will be emphasized. Bring several photo references, sketches or ideas that you would like to develop. Specifically bring materials or ideas that appeal to you. The more personal the references that you have to choose from the better. These references should include landscape, people, still life and abstract ideas. The plan for this class is to sketch and paint your ideas. We'll try different skill exercises, and watch demonstrations tailored to your specific needs. These fundamental ideas will be useful in all media, acrylic, watercolor, or any other drawing or painting media that you might prefer. Materials needed will include your personal painting and drawing supplies along with Sharpie markers, charcoal and kneaded erasers, tracing papers, cheap drawing or printer papers. If you don't have these, I will have extras available. You don't need to worry, we can split up materials if you need something. This class will be unique in its approach, suitable for beginning to advanced. Bring an open mind and be ready to experience some new approaches to preparing your subject matter.
